A Post Doctoral Scholar position is available in the Department of Molecular Genetics at The Ohio State University to characterize the function of genetic modifiers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy using gain- and loss-of-function approaches and phenotyping in the zebrafish model. Duties include designing and executing experiments, conducting data analysis and interpreting results, presenting results at conferences, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to grant proposals, and drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed research articles. Other responsibilities include sharing data and working with project collaborators who perform human GWAS studies and analysis.

 


Minimum Education Required

Doctorate (Academic) in Molecular Genetics or closely related field by the time of appointment

Required Qualifications

Candidate must have 4 years or more experience working with the zebrafish model. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated proficiency in zebrafish CRISPR-mediated mutagenesis, confocal, fluorescent, and light microscopy, locomotor assays and analysis, cloning, and molecular biology techniques.

 


Desired Qualifications

Experience coding in Python is highly preferred.

The pay range for this job profile is $51,000 - $58,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications. The initial appointment period is one year, with the opportunity for a second-year renewal.
