The Song Lab (https://songlab.arizona.edu) at the University of Arizona is actively searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our tissue engineering team. The ideal postdoctoral candidate will work both independently and in collaboration with members of our lab to work on in vitro cell culture systems and animal models. We have several ongoing projects that focus on combining engineered biomaterials and stem cells to create platforms mimicking tissues and organs in our body. Projects in our lab typically span multiple disciplines, so we welcome applicants from many backgrounds.

• The applicant is expected to have some level of hands-on experience designing and fabricating devices or have a strong background in relevant biological assays. 
• Conduct and analyze experiments.
• Participate in writing research proposals, presentations, and publications; and receiving mentoring guidance from the principal investigator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong work ethic, communication skills, and team-player oriented.

• Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• The selected candidate must have a conferred Ph.D. upon hire.
• Must demonstrate broad theoretical and practical knowledge within the field of mechanical engineering, tissue engineering, or cell biology.
• Strong scientific track record demonstrating well-organized design and execution of studies.

• Experience with cell biology, physiology, and/or tissue engineering.
• Cell culture experience.
• Experience with in vitro analytical techniques to assess the cell viability of tissue constructs.
• Experience working with induced pluripotent stem cells.
• Experience with Western blot, flow cytometry, ELISAs, qPCR, and microscopy.
• Experience with vascularizing tissue.
• Experience with animal experiments.
